Women's Health Connecticut is seeking a Full-time, Self-Pay Collector to join our corporate business office in Rocky Hill, CT! This is a Hybrid working arrangement and will require 2-3 days onsite.

Position Summary: The Self-Pay Collector I is responsible for following-up on self-pay account balances. Responsibilities include handling of outbound and inbound calls generated for self-pay collection balances. The Self-Pay Collector is to establish payment arrangements per payment policy protocol as well as individual divisional requests and must also update all patient demographic information as necessary. The Self-Pay Collector must always exhibit professional and courteous behavior during communication with patients, divisions and team members.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Serves as a representative of Women’s Health CT, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the Women’s Health Communities, and the public.
- Expedite large volume of calls.
- Attempt to collect full payment from the patient or guarantor.
- Establish payment arrangements as per protocol and document terms in the patient account.
- Follow up on defaulted payment plans.
- Handles customer inquiries, disputes and complaints. Escalate to supervisor or higher management as necessary.
- Work closely with insurance collectors to verify/clarify patient disputed balances.
- Obtains insurance, demographic and guarantor information to update the patient account.
- Work with external collection agencies to update and maintain accurate patient information including account balances.
- Prepare spreadsheets of daily call log and payment plan details.
- Always maintain and respect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with insurance collection guidelines and corporate policy and procedure.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Adhere to corporate compliance program guidelines.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Skills and qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience in self-pay collections, preferably in physician billing.
- Exhibit professional phone manner with the ability to diffuse complex situations in a calm, professional manner.
- Candidate must demonstrate strong customer service and patient focused orientation.
- Demonstrate computer skills as evidenced by proficiency and/or training with applicable software such as Excel, Word and Outlook as well as practice management system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to set priorities and work independently.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Physical demands:
- Ability to remain seated for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment.
