Women's Health Connecticut is currently seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in one of our fast-paced OBGYN practices in Norwalk!

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00a- 5:00p
Position Summary: The Medical Assistant works alongside a successful and dynamic group of Providers to support the clinical needs of the center. The Medical Assistant position may also support the Front Office with administrative tasks, as needed, and will be cross-trained to be a valuable member of both the front and back-office teams.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for taking patients’ vital signs, height, weight, and urine specimen and inputting values in EMR system
- Responsible for obtaining/updating patients’ chief complaint, allergies, medications, and medical history and transferring that information into the patient’s EMR chart
- In charge of prepping/stocking the exam rooms for patient visit/procedure
- Assist providers with procedures such as Botox, Cystoscopy, Biopsy, and stent removals, etc.
- Accountable for cleaning exam rooms and tables in-between patients
- Process orders and package specimens to send out to the labs
- Scheduling and obtaining prior authorization for patients’ radiology appointments
- Sterilization of instruments in the morning, evening, and after patient procedures
- Effectively triage patient calls in a timely manner
- Maintain OSHA compliant lab utilizing protective personal equipment, completing OSHA logs, sterilizing medical equipment, and always working in a safe manner.
- Perform EKGs and Bladder Scans on patients at the provider’s request
- Obtain patients’ medical records from another provider on request
- Rotate through Float MA position
- Cross train and cover at Front Desk and on phones as needed
- Special project work as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- CMA, CCMA, RMA or equivalent Medical Assistant Certification Required
- OR Scheduling and/or Front Desk experience a plus.
- Candidate must be proficient on a computer and familiar with EMR
- Comfortable talking to patients and addressing concerns
- Ability to calmly handle stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude
- Excellent people skills and ability to communicate well
- Outgoing, friendly, creative, and team –oriented
