Women's Health Connecticut is seeking a Full-time, Medical Billing Specialist for our fast-paced Ob/Gyn practice in Trumbull!

Position: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Women's Health CT- Obstetrics & Gynecology

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00a- 5:00p
Reports to: Practice Manager

Position Summary: The Billing Specialist is responsible for sending invoices and account updates to patients, receiving, sorting and tracking incoming payments, addressing and resolving patient questions and issues related to invoices. The Billing Specialist is detail orientated and skilled in analyzing data, communicating effectively and collaborating as a team.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for entering and reconciling charges and payments in a timely and accurate manner to designated third party and/or patient.
  • Review billing denials for ultimate payment reimbursement and/or appeal.
  • Verify correct insurance filing information.
  • Help find financial solutions for patients who may need payment assistance such as payment plans.
  • Follow up on missed payments and prepare bills and statements.
  • Post insurance and patient payments.
  • Address and review billing discrepancies, claim generation issues, and rejected or denied billings.
  • Provides customer support: Communicate professionally with patients and third-party payers.
  • Keeps management informed of matters that may arise.
  • Trend and escalate billing issues to appropriate supervisory level.
  • Follow internal protocols regarding departmental communications.
  • Foster collaboration and communication with the rest of the billing department and other staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Keep up with industry trends and changes in billing regulations
  • Work in a close team environment to meet daily and monthly billing metrics.
  • Assist with insurance audit requests.
  • Maintain and respect the confidentiality of PHI (Protected Health Information) in accordance with insurance collection guidelines, corporate policy and all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) mandates.
  • Adhere to all corporate compliance mandates and guidelines.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Prior healthcare experience with 1 to 2 years in a medical setting and revenue cycle is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team to coordinate assignments and meet goals.
  • Proficiency with Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate multiple programs and learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Displays exemplary organizational skills and
