Women's Health Connecticut is seeking a Per Diem, Certified Nurse Midwife for our practice in Danbury!

Position Summary: In collaboration with the attending physician, the CNM is responsible for providing skilled health care to patients dedicated to women’s health and facilitating clinical management of these patients by collaborating with attending providers, clinical nurses, and other members of the health care team. The scope of responsibility is characterized by use of the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate and treat human responses to actual or potential problems utilizing appropriate practices, standards, protocols, and guidelines.
The CNM at Danbury Midwifery Group must have a minimum of two years of working experience in women's health, primary care, and/or emergency-urgent care environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care in fast-paced office consultations, including assessment, work-ups, triage, and other patient care activities.
• Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests.
• Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment.
• Collaborates with physicians to provide appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice.
• Collects, organizes, records, and discusses data as appropriate and uses sound clinical judgment based in best practice standards and evidenced based medicine.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conducts appropriate patient follow-up & outreach.
• Demonstrates commitment to ongoing education and improvement as evidenced by documentation of attendance at conferences, in-services, seminars, and committee meetings.
• Performs other related duties in support of efficient department operations and superior patient care.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Licenses and Certifications:

• Required current CT Certified Nurse Midwife License with prescriptive authority (American Midwifery Certification Board exam)
• National Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certification
• Training or certification in Family Medicine

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in women’s health primary care, emergency, or urgent care required.
• 2-3 years as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
• Ability to work autonomously in fast paced environment.
• Customer-Focus and Communication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in other languages highly desirable.
• Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care.
• Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate.

Clinical Management Skills:

• Highly organized with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks with full autonomy.
• Knowledge of computer systems, including experience with electronic medical record system (Athena).
• Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate.
• Ability to adhere to PWH policies as well as HIPAA requirements, OSHA regulations and Infection Control standards.
