About Shannon Shiel
Dr. Shannon Shiel earned her medical degree in 2014 from the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 2006. She is an experienced ObGyn with a tremendous track record as a leader and innovator in connecting patients with the absolute best in care. She completed her residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2018. During that time, Dr. Shiel was only one of ten residents tasked with covering four different hospitals. It was the first of many experiences that gave her a unique capacity to care for patients at the highest level.
She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut. Dr. Shiel is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a status reserved for those at the forefront of women’s health treatments and practices. It is one of many ways she dedicates herself to providing quality care.
Before joining Women’s Health Connecticut, she served as the medical director of Labor and Delivery at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, where she oversaw the quality and safety of patients in the Family Birth Place. During that time, she advocated and implemented innovative department-wide policies to better serve patients.
With years of patient-focused care combined with her experience as an educator and researcher, Dr. Shiel has a unique ability to empower and guide her patients to the best possible outcomes. She is passionate about providing excellent care in a warm, empowering environment.
Dr. Shiel is excited to be a part of Women’s Health Connecticut, joining a team of care providers that share the same philosophy and goals of providing an accessible and comfortable atmosphere for patients to receive highly personalized care. She is serving as an ObGyn at Litchfield County OB/GYN with offices in Torrington and Winsted.
