Insurance Coverage And Pricing

Women’s Health Connecticut Virtual Care is covered by most major insurers. Before booking your appointment, check with your insurance provider or employer resources to verify coverage and details for virtual care services. If your virtual care visits are in network with your insurance, you may still have deductibles/co-insurance and/or co-pays for your visit. Please verify those amounts with your insurance company before you begin treatment so that you understand costs and the number of visits covered.

If you’re uninsured or out of network under your plan, we can bill you direct for payment for services (self-pay). The self-pay cost can range from $145-$280, depending on services provided.

Please note, you will be considered a no-show if you do not connect with your provider within 15 minutes of the appointment. A no-show rate of $75 will be charged to you.

When In-Person Care Is The Better Option

If you are experiencing symptoms and are seeking treatment for other gynecological concerns such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), vaginitis or other unexplained feminine itching, vaginal pain, or pelvic pain, we require an in-person appointment with one of our Women’s Health Connecticut providers. To schedule an in-person appointment:

After hours:
Please contact our Women’s After-Hours Care center and book an in-person appointment.

During normal business hours:
If you are an existing patient of Women’s Health Connecticut and would like an in-person appointment during normal business hours, please reach out to your practice to schedule an in-person appointment with your provider. Or, if you are a new patient, and need in-person care, explore our list of providers to request an appointment.

NOTE: Virtual services are not a substitute for emergency care. For medical emergencies, call 9-1-1 or visit the nearest emergency department.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

The best way to make an appointment is to select a provider from this page and click “Book Virtual” and that will take you to the online booking system where you can select the day and time that is available and works best for you.

What if I have questions and need to talk with someone?

If you have questions you can call:
Connecticut resident: (203) 922-5955
Massachusetts resident: (774) 855-6877

Do you offer pre check-in before the appointment?

Yes, we encourage you to complete the digital check-in process before your appointment. You will get a link via text and/or email to go through this process. You will also be able to confirm the service you need through the digital pre-check in.

Where can I find my visit link?

You’ll receive a link to join your visit 20 minutes before your appointment via text and email. If you don’t receive a link or are having trouble joining your appointment, please call us at:
Connecticut resident: (203) 922-5955
Massachusetts resident: (774) 855-6877

We will send you reminder text messages the day of your visit containing the link to your visit. We will also send you a reminder email the day of your visit. Please remember to always join your visits 5 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure everything works smoothly.

How long will my Virtual Care visit be?

The length of your visit will depend on the service you need and the provider you speak with, but most appointments will usually be at least 30 minutes. However, your first visit will be 60 minutes so your provider can take the time to get to know you and understand your concerns and develop a treatment plan you both agree on.

Are there certain patient requirements for the Virtual Care appointment?

Yes, these are the patient requirements for virtual care appointments:

  • Patients must reside in Connecticut to speak with Connecticut provider, or reside in Massachusetts to speak with a Massachusetts provider.
  • Need stable Wi-Fi connection
  • Need a device with camera and audio (computer, tablet or cell phone)
  • You will need to be stationary during the VC appointment (if you are not, the appointment will not begin or will not continue)
  • Virtual care cannot be used while driving.
  • You must be in a private area.
Does this replace my regular gynecologist?

No, this virtual care division is designed to complement but not replace your regular gynecologist. It’s important that you continue your care with your regular gynecologist and/or primary care provider for regular pelvic exams, issues that require a physical evaluation, and any other concerns that can’t be discussed with the services offered at Women’s Health Virtual Care.

Looking for a new provider for in-person gynecology care? See list of Women’s Health Connecticut providers here .

How does Women’s Health Connecticut Virtual Care work with my other providers?

Women’s Health Virtual Care providers collaborate with your existing care team and can communicate with them through secure, direct communication with clinical practices that have an EHR that synchs with Athena. We can do what works best for you and your care team and provide you with a Care summary that you can discuss at your routine exam.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance to avoid incurring a $50 same day cancellation charge. You can cancel your appointment in your patient portal or by calling: Connecticut resident: (203) 922-5955 Massachusetts resident: (774) 855-6877

Is there a no-show fee?

Yes, you will be considered a no-show if you don’t connect with your provider within 15 minutes of the appointment. A no-show rate of $75 will be charged to you.

Does Women’s Health Connecticut Virtual Care see patients in all 50 states?

No. Virtual Care through this division is only offered to patients who reside in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Will my Women’s Health Connecticut Virtual Care provider order lab work?

Yes, your virtual care provider might order labs, and results will go to that same provider. All notes and details will be in your patient chart/Athena so your other care providers can see what was ordered. You will be encouraged to get your labs done and if necessary, visit your Women’s Health Connecticut portal to receive the lab requisition (new Women’s Health Connecticut patients would need to sign up for the portal to get lab requisition). At the end of your virtual care visits, your virtual care provider will discuss the treatment plan. The provider ordering the lab work will follow up with you and your regular provider (whether that’s a Women’s Health Connecticut provider or an outside provider).

Can I get medications/prescriptions from Women’s Health Connecticut Virtual Care provider?

Yes, your virtual care provider can prescribe initial medications for up to 3 months. In order for you to receive refills/changes/authorizations, you will need to have a follow-up visit for another check in/authorization via a virtual care appointment (or your regular provider if necessary). You can book a follow-up visit via this website or portal.

In general, you will be appropriately evaluated and/or examined before prescribing or refilling medications, either through videoconferencing or in-person visits. Once your care plan is complete, you will be encouraged to go back to your usual provider or new provider for routine care and prescription monitoring, etc.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, virtual care visits are covered by most major health plans, Medicaid and Medicare. We strongly encourage you to contact your insurance provider to discuss coverage details. Virtual care services may be subject to patient out-of-pocket cost share such as co-pay, co-insurance and yearly deductible.

What if I don’t have insurance?

That’s ok. You can pay for the virtual care visit out-of-pocket (self-pay). Costs range from $145-$280, depending on services provided.

Can you accommodate different languages other than just English?

Yes, we can accommodate different languages. Please let your provider know your language requirements when you connect with them on the virtual visit.
