Position Summary: Women’s Health CT is currently seeking an experienced PMHNP for our Behavioral Health Division. The Nurse Practitioner will provide diagnosis of psychiatric disorders, psychotherapy, medication management, and patient focused education. In collaboration with the OBGYN provider, this role is responsible for providing compassionate psychiatric health care to patients mostly via telehealth. Ability to treat patients one day a week in our Rocky Hill office is preferable.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patient Intake and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, and review physical and psychosocial health histories
  • Diagnosis & Treatment: Formulate DSM-5 diagnoses and design holistic, individualized treatment plans
  • Medication Management: Prescribe and adjust psychotropic medications while monitoring for therapeutic efficacy and adverse side effects.
  • Psychotherapy: Provide individual psychotherapy modalities.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside OBGYN providers.
  • Education: Counsel patients and families regarding psychiatric conditions, medication adherence, and coping strategies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Performs other related duties in support of the Gestational Diabetes Management Program, including, but not limited to, scheduling and billing.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree: Master’s or Doctor of Science in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a psychiatric-mental health specialty. · Certification: Board certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted APRN license in Connecticut.
  • Credentialing: Valid DEA registration and state controlled-substance license for prescribing.
  • At least 2 years of direct patient experience in the PMHNP role.
  • Experience working with adult women and the psychiatric conditions they may present with.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Positive, empathetic approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care; ability to meet the patient where they are.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks with full autonomy.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including experience with electronic medical record system (Athena)
  • Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate.
  • Ability to adhere to PWH policies as well as HIPAA requirements, OSHA regulations, and Infection Control standard.
