About Kathleen Ackert, DO

Dr. Kathleen Ackert is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and fellowship-trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon.

She attended Siena College for her undergraduate studies before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

She is passionate about helping patients understand their options, feel comfortable asking questions, and make thoughtful decisions about their health and reproductive goals.

She specializes in the medical and surgical management of a wide range of gynecologic conditions, with particular expertise in minimally invasive surgery. She treats conditions including uterine fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, uterine polyps, uterine septums, and uterine adhesions (Asherman syndrome). Her surgical expertise includes robotic, laparoscopic, and abdominal myomectomy; minimally invasive hysterectomy, including both total and supracervical hysterectomy; uterine fibroid ablation with the Sonata® procedure; endometrial ablation; and laparoscopic procedures including salpingectomy and ovarian cyst surgery.

She also provides comprehensive gynecologic care, including routine annual exams and Pap smears, contraceptive counseling and management, IUD placement and removal, menopause management, and basic infertility evaluation and treatment.

Her approach to patient care is thorough yet practical. She believes there is rarely a single “right” answer in gynecology and takes the time to understand each patient’s priorities, concerns, and reproductive goals before recommending a treatment plan. Her goal is for patients to leave their visits feeling informed, heard, and confident in their care. She believes that being a good physician means continuing to learn, staying curious, and treating every patient with the same thoughtfulness and respect you would want for someone you love.

Dr. Ackert’s commitment to compassionate medicine began during medical school, when she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and later served as president of her chapter. She has received numerous awards and honors throughout medical school, residency, and fellowship in recognition of her clinical, academic, and surgical achievements.

Beyond medicine, she enjoys reading, trying out the latest fitness trend, and spending time with her husband.
