Women’s Health Connecticut is seeking to hire a Full-time, Certified Medical Assistant at CCOG Women’s Health Group in Southington!

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm
Reports to: Practice Manager

Position Summary: As the Certified Medical Assistant you will work alongside a successful and dynamic team of Providers to support the clinical needs of the center. The Medical Assistant position also supports the Front Office with administrative tasks, as needed, and will be cross-trained to be a valuable member of both the front and back-office teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy:

  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood specimens accurately and efficiently following proper technique and safety protocols.
  • Label, document, and process blood specimens according to laboratory and clinical standards.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the procedure.
  • Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and ensure all necessary equipment is sterilized and in working order.

Clinical Support

  • Obtain and record patients’ vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, height, and weight.
  • Collect and properly label urine specimens for testing and documentation in the EMR.
  • Update and document patients’ chief complaint, allergies, current medications, and medical/surgical history into the EMR system.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms prior to patient visits and procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms and tables between each patient in compliance with infection control protocols.

Lab and Procedures

  • Process provider orders and prepare lab specimens for transport to external laboratories.
  • Sterilize medical instruments each morning, evening, and after patient procedures, following infection control and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain an OSHA-compliant work environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and completion of OSHA documentation.

Administrative Tasks

  • Schedule and obtain prior authorizations for radiology or specialty appointments as needed.
  • Triage patient calls and respond promptly and appropriately based on urgency and clinical protocols.
  • Retrieve medical records from external providers when requested by the provider or patient.
  • Assist with front desk duties and phone coverage when needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by clinical leadership or practice manager.

Skills and Qualifications

  • CMA or RMA certification required.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy and/or previous phlebotomy experience required.
  • Previous experience with scheduling or front desk duties preferred.
  • Proficient in computer use, including EMR systems (experience with Athena a plus).
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent patient care and customer service
