Position: Sr. Accountant & Project Specialist
Location:175 Capital Blvd. Rocky Hill, CT 06067
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday- Friday, Hybrid- 2-3 days per week in-office
Reports to: CFO
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant & Projects Specialist is a hybrid role that combines traditional accounting responsibilities with project-based initiatives. This position will spend approximately 50 % of the time managing monthly close activities and accounting tasks and 50% on ad hoc projects that drive process improvements, financial analysis and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, adaptable, and skilled in both accounting and project management.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Manage operating transactions daily.
- Assist with intercompany transactions.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Collaborate with FP&A and other departments.
- Process and manage divisional loan requests.
- Coordinate property tax filings and compliance.
- Prepare and review 1099 forms.
- Support payroll-related activities.
- Assist with malpractice-related accounting tasks.
- Complete government census surveys (2-3 annually).
- Prepare budgets and assist with budget development.
- Perform internal audit functions.
- Manage escheatment and use tax compliance.
- Support division initiatives without a designated practice manager (e.g., Co-management, Hospitalist, Birth Center).
- Lead or assist in financial process improvement initiatives.
- Perform deep-dive financial analysis for divisions or special projects.

Skills/qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, experience with ERP systems and BI tools, are preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
