About Jamie L. Benway, MD
Dr. Benway is a graduate of Hamilton College and attended medical school at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed her residency training at University of Connecticut in 2015. While in residency, she was the Administrative Chief and Resident Scheduler.
Dr. Benway completed her certification for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2017. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Before returning to Connecticut, Dr. Benway practiced medicine for five years at a Federally Qualified Health Center in an underserved area of Upstate New York. While there, she was the main OBGYN provider for an area with minimal access to health care. This experience taught her the importance of taking the whole woman into account when meeting patients and developing treatment plans. It also highlighted the importance of thorough patient education in relation to a woman’s gynecologic health or her pregnancy. Her passion is empowering women to understand their bodies and to engage in decision making relating to their health.
