Genetic Carrier Testing
During pregnancy, your provider may order certain tests to monitor your and the baby’s health. Some tests will require review of your family health history to determine if there are any genetic conditions that could be passed on to the baby.
Carrier testing determines if a couple is at increased risk of having a baby with an inherited genetic condition. The following are common carrier tests offered to pregnant women:
- Ashkenazi Jewish Diseases
- Fragile X
- Hereditary Blood Disorders
- Tay-Sachs Disease
- Cystic Fibrosis
