About Carter Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Biology summa cum laude from Luther College in Decorah, IA. He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut. During his residency, he received the Gretch Allen Award for recognition of outstanding care to patients in the women’s clinics and he received awards for his work with medical students and care of gynecologic cancer patients.

Dr. Johnson joined Greater Hartford Women’s Health Associates in 2025. He has completed a certification for da Vinci robotic surgery and is excited to offer his patients care of their complex gynecologic surgical needs with minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is particularly interested in serving the needs of LGBTQ+ patients including their gynecologic, reproductive, and surgical care. Additionally, he has interests in family planning and reproductive care, contraceptive counseling, care of high-risk obstetrical patients, preventative medicine, and offering in-office procedures. Outside of medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys hiking, cycling, gardening, traveling, and going to the theater.
