About Amy S. Breakstone
Amy S. Breakstone, MD, received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1983. She went on to earn her medical degree from Stony Brook (SUNY) New York in 1987. Dr. Breakstone is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is affiliated with Bristol Hospital and John Dempsey Hospital/University of Connecticut.
Dr. Breakstone entered medicine with the intent of bringing change to women’s healthcare. She is delighted to be a part of the change that women, as a community, have accomplished. She is in main contact with consumer advocacy groups, while providing patients with the means to attain their individualized health goals.
As treatment options change rapidly, she enjoys the opportunity to continuously learn more and offer women cutting edge surgical and medical interventions. Dr. Breakstone enjoys speaking on statewide Nutmeg TV as part of the "Hotflash" series to educate a wider audience on a range of women's healthcare topics, such as menopause, genetic counseling, and adolescent gynecology.
Dr. Breakstone currently resides in Bristol with her husband where they raised three children. She enjoys international travel, and is working to integrate this with international women's health efforts. In 2010, she traveled to Haiti to work with the Haitian Health Foundation, an organization she continues to support.
