About Yvette Martas
Yvette Martas, MD, became aware of the Mansfield Ob/Gyn practice while volunteering in Chiapas, Mexico teaching cervical cancer screening techniques. A pathologist from Windham Hospital, also volunteering, Yvette found her style and passion for women’s health a great match for Mansfield Ob/Gyn.
She and her husband Anthony are from New York City where they lived and developed their professional careers, Yvette at New York University and Anthony as an acupuncturist.
Since arriving in Connecticut, Yvette and Anthony have longed for the days of sushi delivery like in New York City, but have decided it is a small price to pay for the wonderful community they have joined. They found very good restaurants for local dining; one of their favorite past times, and discovered country life to be beautiful. They enjoy the surrounding hiking trails as well as the dramatic arts at University of Connecticut and the Bushnell.
Yvette continues to work as a volunteer through Grounds for Health, screening for cancer in the third world. She also maintains her ties with the March of Dimes as the Spanish speaking spokesperson for their informational videos on prematurity and reproductive health. Her passion for education has opened opportunities to serve as mentor to Windham High School and University of Connecticut students interested in the health professions.
“I continue to do all the same work I did in The City without the chaos of City life. Indeed the Universe always conspires to give you what you need.” - Yvette Martas, M.D.
