Women’s Health Connecticut Chief Medical Officer Discusses Childbirth Safety
Dr. Matthew Saidel, Chief Medical Officer of Women’s Health Connecticut, was a featured guest on local news talk radio show Healthcare Matters on WTIC 1080. He discussed what hospitals are doing across the nation to ensure the safety of mothers during childbirth. Dr. Saidel joined the hosts of the show and a panel of physicians that reviewed why the maternal mortality rate has continued to rise in America, how hospitals are responding and what safety measures can be taken to care for women during pregnancy and through delivery.
He offered another perspective to the conversation by bringing intimate partner violence to the forefront because it is the most common cause of death among women during their pregnancy and the postpartum period. Women’s Health Connecticut is a proud participant in the CCADV Health Professional Outreach Project to bolster IPV training across the Connecticut healthcare system.
Dr. Saidel’s comments begin at 37:12, listen to the episode here.
