Governor Lamont Proclaims September 19 Stillbirth Prevention and Awareness Day in Connecticut
HARTFORD, CT — Governor Ned Lamont has officially proclaimed September 19, 2026, as Stillbirth Prevention and Awareness Day in Connecticut. Women’s Health Connecticut (WHC) was proud to support this recognition.
Each year, about 20,000 pregnancies in the United States end in stillbirth. Even so, stillbirth is rarely discussed, and progress in lowering the rate has been slow. The proclamation calls for greater public awareness, better data collection, and continued investment in prevention research. It also honors the families who have lived through this loss.
WHC’s more than 300 providers across Connecticut are committed to evidence-based prenatal care that supports healthy pregnancies at every stage. That includes open conversations with patients about fetal movement, prenatal monitoring, and when to call their provider.
For families who have experienced a stillbirth: you are not alone. Our providers are here to support you with compassion and care.
Women’s Health Connecticut thanks Governor Lamont and his office for bringing attention to this important issue.
