Women’s Health Connecticut Physician Highlighted for Medical Mission Efforts
West Hartford Life recently highlighted Women’s Health Connecticut ObGyn Dr. Michael Bourque and his life-changing experience that began with a surgical mission in the Dominican Republic in its May issue. As a member of the team at Woodland Women’s Health Associates, he was the organizer of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center International Medical Missions and has shared that international service has become a cornerstone in his life.
After 12 years, they needed a new partnership and joined Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH). This article covers the organization’s mission, purpose and the importance of bringing medical infrastructure to the country and its citizens. There are two main clinics in Port-au-Prince and Dame Marie, in addition to multiple mobile clinics run by over 200 volunteers and 20 staff. Dr. Bourque serves as the medical director and chair of the Dame Marie medical committee and dedicates his service to supplying equipment, training missionaries and building a sustainable model to deliver excellent care.
